The Challenger Center Model Rocket Club is a “family oriented” club that believes building and
launching rockets as a group is simply lots of fun! The club is fully sanctioned and insured by
the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) – Section 691. The club members usually meet monthly,
either at the Challenger Center , or at the Metropolitan Rocket Association (METRA) launches in
Pine Island , NY .
Club members have access to lots of educational material relating to model rocketry,
and are able to use the Challenger Center 's model rocket simulation software to help
them construct and fly their rockets. Club members can pursue the NARTREK path to model
rocketry excellence by working on projects enabling them to reach the bronze, silver,
and gold achievement levels. Older club members, above the age of 18, can pursue the
challenge of obtaining certification in high-powered model rocketry.
Club members have discounted passes to local launches and they receive discounts to
any “rocket build” classes and workshops held at the Challenger Center.
The Challenger Center club hopes someday to form a team that will compete in the Team America Rocket Challenge (TARC). This prestigious annual event offers prizes totaling $60,000.
A lifetime membership for the entire family is just $60.
